Protein Art - In Thread and Ink
15. Active Rendezvous 18" by 24" £400
Part of my exhibition at The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, Genome Campus, Hinxton, Cambs. All the pieces in this exhibition were inspired by elements of protein structure. This textile was made almost entirely from silk, with just a small amount of copper shim added ( to represent the metal ions found at the active sites of enzymes). The design refers to the whole globular protein being involved in the configuration of an active site.
